RANDOM FACT #34 - A 100-YEAR-OLD 'Lifehack' For Cleaning Inside Bottles Used SAND

To clean the interior of bottles, a little sand and water should be well shaken inside of them. This will have the effect of cleansing every part, and the bottles can then be washed and dried.

This 100-YR-OLD lifehack illustrated in the image to your left, is an actual card from a 100-card series of 'How-to' cigarette cards published by Gallaher Ltd of Belfast and London and Ogden's Branch of the Imperial Tobacco Co in the 1910s.

The first cigarette cards, used to strengthen the paper packs of cigarette containers, were manufactured in the late 1880's and depicted famous people, pretty girls and trivia among other things.

Did You Know...
The cards, which continued into the 1940s, are highly valuable now, with the most expensive (bearing the face of stringent anti-smoking baseball player Honus Wagner) selling for $2.8 million in 2007!
