The pencil is handmade in Minnesota, USA and contains absolutely no lead. The writing material is graphite and clay. Not only is it said to have a pleasant fragrance but it will stop a bad habit of chewing on pencils - doing so will probably activate Sprout and it will dissolve in your mouth. Good thing it's non-toxic!
